If you want a warm, sweet, fuss-free dessert tonight, this viral two-ingredient berry cobbler is an excellent choice. It’s quick to assemble, bakes into a bubbling, jammy filling under a golden cookie-top, and is perfect topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

Easy Berry Cobbler
I usually simplify classic recipes, and I was skeptical of viral two-ingredient hacks at first. After trying a few, though, I admit some of the easiest recipes are also the most satisfying. This berry cobbler is proof: minimal effort, maximum comfort.
We’ve made this with several varieties of frozen fruit and a few cookie dough options. It’s flexible, forgiving, and ideal for busy nights or casual get-togethers.

Ingredients
- 1 bag (about 10 oz) frozen berries (mixed berries, blueberries, or cherries work well)
- 6 pieces of store-bought sugar cookie dough (refrigerated tube or portioned dough)
Pro Tip
Use any frozen fruit you have on hand: dark sweet cherries, sliced peaches, mango chunks, or a mixed berry blend. If you want a slightly thicker filling, toss the frozen fruit with a tablespoon of cornstarch and a splash of lemon juice before baking.

3 Servings
Ingredients
- 1 bag (10 oz) frozen berries
- 6 pieces sugar cookie dough
Optional (to elevate the flavor)
- 1 Tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 Tablespoon cornstarch
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
- If using the optional ingredients, toss the frozen berries with lemon juice, cornstarch and vanilla in a bowl so the fruit is evenly coated. Otherwise, pour the frozen berries straight from the bag into a baking dish.
- Break or slice the sugar cookie dough into six pieces and arrange them over the berries, leaving small gaps so the fruit can bubble through.
- Bake in the center of the oven for 30–35 minutes, until the cookie dough is golden and crisp at the edges and the filling is bubbling.
- Let the cobbler rest for 5 minutes (the filling will be very hot), then serve warm with vanilla ice cream if desired.
Notes
- Do not thaw the fruit. Baking from frozen helps the cookie dough cook through without the fruit turning to mush.
- The viral original used a specific brand of sugar cookie dough to make a gluten-free and vegan version, but you can use any cookie dough you prefer.

How to Make Berry Cobbler
1. If using the optional upgrades, toss the frozen berries with lemon juice, cornstarch and vanilla in a bowl so the fruit is evenly coated. This helps thicken the filling and brightens the flavor.
2. Pour the frozen berries into a baking dish. Top with six pieces of sugar cookie dough, spacing them so the fruit can bubble up between the dough pieces.

3. Bake on the center rack for 30–35 minutes until the top is golden and crisp. Remove from the oven and let cool for about 5 minutes; the filling will be very hot. Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for a classic finish.

FAQs
Peach Snickerdoodle: Use frozen sliced peaches and swap the sugar cookie dough for snickerdoodle dough for a cinnamon-forward version. Tropical mango: Toss frozen mango with a little lime juice, top with cookie dough, and sprinkle shredded coconut during the last 10 minutes of baking. Apple-style: Use frozen spiced apples and top with gingerbread or oatmeal cookie dough for a cozy autumn take. Note: fruit like peaches and apples may release less jammy liquids than berries, so you can add a touch more sugar or a tablespoon of water if needed.
Cool the cobbler completely, then cover the baking dish tightly with foil or transfer portions to an airtight container. Refrigerate for up to 3–4 days. To reheat, warm in a 350°F (175°C) oven for about 10 minutes until heated through; this helps revive the crisp topping better than a microwave.
Yes. Fresh berries cook faster and release their juices sooner, so check the cobbler around 20–25 minutes to ensure the bottom doesn’t scorch before the cookie dough is done.
Absolutely. For 6–8 people, use a 9×13-inch baking dish, two standard bags of frozen fruit (20–24 oz total), and 12–14 pieces of cookie dough. Keep the oven temperature the same and add 5–10 minutes to the bake time, checking for a golden top and bubbling filling.
