Crème Egg Hot Chocolate Recipe: Gooey Easter Chocolate Drink

A luscious, comforting Cadbury Creme Egg hot chocolate that transforms the best Easter candy into a drinkable treat. Made by melting creme eggs for a rich, indulgent cup.

Creme Egg Hot Chocolate

Lately the weather has been unpredictable. The calendar says spring, but some days feel more like winter. One weekend the creek started to rise from heavy rain, then the precipitation shifted to sleet and even a bit of snow. Puddles formed and moments later there was a dusting on the ground—only to melt away the next day. I’m definitely ready for steady sunshine.

When the weather acts up, I turn to comforting drinks. Coffee fuels my mornings, but in the evenings I reach for hot chocolate. Since it’s April and Cadbury Creme Egg season, I made a Cadbury Creme Egg Hot Chocolate: classic hot cocoa enriched with melted creme eggs and finished with a cloud of whipped cream.

How To Make Cadbury Creme Egg Hot Chocolate

If it melts, it can become hot chocolate. Melting candy into cocoa is a simple way to add flavor and creaminess—I’ve done it before with chocolate kisses and even toasted marshmallows. A creme egg milkshake showed me the potential of these candies, so blending their gooey center into hot chocolate felt like the next delicious step.

Top your cup with a generous dollop of whipped cream for contrast and texture. I tried garnishing with a whole creme egg, but it kept sliding off the whipped cream—so I embraced the mess and dug in. Sometimes the messier the drink, the better it tastes.
