Is the Air Jordan 6 Purple Rain Dropping Soon?

With the Air Jordan 1 “Court Purple” and “Metallic Purple” rumored for later this year, it’s clear Jordan Brand is leaning into purple for the back half of 2018. That trend helps explain the buzz surrounding a newly surfaced Air Jordan 6 colorway being called “Purple Rain.”

The pair was previewed by Frank Cooke, a Jordan Brand NRG designer known for showing upcoming releases and one-off samples. While Cooke’s post doesn’t make it clear whether this pair is a final retail release or a prototype, the images have already generated excitement among Air Jordan 6 fans and collectors.

Like the Gatorade-inspired Air Jordan 6 — though distinct from the “Like Mike” 6s — this “Purple Rain” version appears crafted in smooth suede that covers the upper. Tonal purple detailing extends to the midsole, which sits above a translucent outsole, giving the shoe a refined yet striking look.

Cooke did not confirm a release date or provide further details when sharing the preview. Still, the reaction suggests many will welcome an official release if Jordan Brand decides to move forward. For now, enthusiasts will be watching for any updates or an official announcement.
