Inside: A rich chocolate layer cake decorated with classic Easter candies—Cadbury Eggs, REESE’S Eggs, REESE’S Shake & Break, and Cadbury Shimmer Mini Eggs. A festive and simple showstopper for your holiday table.

This year I wanted to go all-out with an Easter dessert, and decorating a cake with seasonal candy felt perfect. These egg-shaped treats are a classic for a reason—colorful, nostalgic, and irresistibly fun on a cake.

I picked up REESE’S Eggs, a REESE’S Shake & Break Egg, Cadbury Eggs, and a bag of Cadbury Shimmer Mini Eggs to add bright spring colors and texture. You can buy everything at your local store or use grocery pickup to save time.
I baked and assembled the cake at home and loved the result—visually festive and delicious. Everyone asked for seconds.

How to Make an Easter Candy Cake
Using a boxed chocolate cake mix and ready-made whipped chocolate frosting makes this dessert quick and easy. The decorating is what really makes the cake special, so simple steps yield a big impact.
Let’s get started!
Prepare two 8-inch or 9-inch round cakes following the package instructions and let them cool completely.

Once cooled, level the layers if needed, place one layer on a cake stand or plate, and spread a layer of chocolate frosting with an offset spatula or butter knife. Top with the second layer and frost the top and sides until the cake is fully covered.
Now the real fun begins!
Unwrap about 20 REESE’S Eggs and arrange them around the base perimeter of the frosted cake to form a decorative border.
Carefully crack open a REESE’S Shake & Break Egg and place it on the top center of the cake so the REESE’S Pieces spill out for a playful centerpiece.
Scatter Cadbury Eggs and Cadbury Shimmer Mini Eggs across the top to fill the surface, adding small clusters of shimmer eggs for color and texture.

If desired, use extra Shimmer Mini Eggs to decorate the cake stand or plate around the cake—this both fills empty space and gives guests an easy pre-slice snack.

I hope your family enjoys this eggstra-fun Easter candy cake as much as mine did.
