Green Power Smoothie
Happy Monday, friends! A fresh Green Power Smoothie is my favorite way to start the week — packed with vegetables and brightened by Florida orange juice to kickstart the day.
Smoothies are a staple in our house for good reasons:
- Delicious and satisfying
- Simple and fast to prepare
- A convenient way to boost nutrition
I often use smoothies to sneak extra nutrients into my toddler’s meals — vegetables, probiotics, omega-3s, and vitamin D blend easily into one creamy drink. The natural sweetness and bright citrus flavor of Florida orange juice makes it easy to add healthy ingredients without complaints.

We recently had a week of illness in our household — toddler colds spread quickly and even the newborn caught a little sniffle. It reminded me how much diet and small routines matter during recovery: rest, hydration, and immune-supporting foods.
When kids are sick I rely on gentle, food-based support along with any medications our pediatrician recommends. Smoothies are especially helpful because I can mix in supplements, like vitamin D drops, liquid iron, or elderberry syrups, along with familiar flavors so there’s no fuss at dosing time.

Thankfully we are on the mend now. When a newborn is under the weather, I go a little overboard with cleaning and air care — but food remains my first line of defense. A nutrient-rich smoothie can be a comforting, easy-to-tolerate source of vitamins, minerals, protein, and healthy fats.

As a dietitian and food lover, I like using real-food ingredients for flavor and nourishment. Florida orange juice brings natural sweetness and vitamin C that pairs perfectly with frozen fruit, leafy greens, and a scoop of nut butter to round out the texture and add healthy fat and protein.
When I need to get more vegetables into little ones, this Green Power Smoothie is a go-to. The orange juice masks any earthy notes from cauliflower, broccoli, or spinach so the result is bright, creamy, and kid-friendly.

I also often add probiotics like kefir for gut support, and sometimes a spoonful of peanut butter for texture and flavor. This combination gives a satisfying drink with a balance of carbohydrates, protein, and healthy fats — ideal for breakfasts or quick post-play refuels.
Florida Orange Juice offers five great benefits in every glass:
- Great taste
- Vitamin C
- Folate
- Potassium
- No added sugar

Green Power Smoothie to the rescue
I recently shared this smoothie on the Florida orange juice Instagram page and on National OJ Day I hosted a morning yoga and breakfast event to celebrate. Events like these are a fun way to connect community with approachable, nutrient-packed food ideas.

If you want to experiment with your own versions, try swapping the peanut butter for almond or sunflower seed butter for a nut-free option, or use dairy-free kefir if you prefer. The goal is a smooth, creamy texture and a bright citrus flavor that complements the hidden greens and vegetables.
