These photos capture a memorable journey through southern Africa, from coastal vistas and iconic landmarks to wildlife encounters and lush botanical gardens. The coastline scenes include Llandudno Beach, Muizenberg’s colorful changing rooms, Chapman’s Peak Drive, Diaz Beach, Boulders Beach with its penguins, and the dramatic Cape of Good Hope sign. Inland, the landscapes shift to rolling wine estates like Groot Constantia and the diverse plantings at Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden.

Wildlife highlights range from baboons in Zambia and a curious monkey at the Royal Livingstone Hotel to rhinos and giraffes on reserve, and close-up moments with penguins at Boulders Beach. Inverdoorn and other reserves offer up-close encounters with Africa’s majestic animals.

Victoria Falls appears in several images, including views from the edge of Devil’s Pool and panoramic shots that show the mist and power of the falls. The Zambezi River cruise photo evokes the peaceful side of the region, contrasting with the dramatic sight of the falls themselves.

City and cultural scenes show the University of Cape Town—its halls, paths and viewpoints—along with Table Mountain and Devil’s Peak dominating the skyline. There are also everyday moments: fans at a soccer match in Cape Town Stadium, friends climbing the rocks at Noordhoek Beach, and a visit to the historic Groot Constantia wine estate.

Other striking images include a boab tree in Zimbabwe and the view from Elephant’s Eye Cave, as well as candid travel memories like meeting golf legend Gary Player on the way to Cape Town. These visuals combine to tell a personal story of adventure, nature, and the rich variety of southern Africa’s landscapes and wildlife.

I’ll miss this place more than I can say.

See you tomorrow, USA!
