This Is Not Your Basic Deli Sandwich!

I don’t publish many sandwich recipes because most deli-style sandwiches are straightforward: you grab the ingredients, stack them, and they’re ready. A few exceptions deserve a recipe—like chicken salad, pesto chicken, and sliders. This honey bacon club belongs on that shortlist.

It looks like a classic deli stack, but it’s one of our favorites and gets made often at home. You can change the meats or veggies to suit your taste, but the sauce is the real star. The honey mustard spread elevates this from a regular sandwich to one people remember and request again.

Ingredients

Ingredient Swap or Tip
Bread White, sourdough, or whole wheat all work well
Center-Cut Bacon Thick-cut bacon adds extra crunch
Smoked Turkey Roasted turkey breast is a good substitute
Honey Ham Black Forest ham works nicely
Muenster Cheese Monterey Jack or white American also melt well
Romaine Lettuce Butter lettuce gives a softer bite
Tomato Slice thin to prevent soggy bread
Honey Mustard Spread Make extra to serve for dipping

How To Make This Club Sandwich Recipe

  1. Sauce: Whisk all sauce ingredients together, season with salt and pepper, and chill while you prepare the sandwiches.
  2. Bacon: Cook until crisp and drain on paper towels.
  3. Toast the bread: Toast slices until golden and sturdy.
  4. Assemble: Spread the honey mustard on both sides of the bread. Layer bacon, lettuce, cheese, tomato, avocado, turkey, and ham to your liking.
  5. Finish and serve: Top with the remaining slice of bread and serve immediately. Offer extra sauce for dipping.

Storage

Wrap assembled sandwiches tightly and refrigerate for up to 2 days. For best results, store the honey mustard spread separately so the bread stays crisp.
